Welcome to WOYWW

Morning all

I know crafting goes through phases .. I was recently in the U.S. and noted that the big box stores seem to be really keen on the stickers/peel offs. In the UK we did that a number of years ago ... and I had LOADS of them too. When we redecorated and moved my craft space around I decided the time had come to get rid of them all as I hadn't used them in YEARS. Gave many of them to a friend who childminds her grandchildren (all girls)  - her fridge is now adorned with artwork including these peel offs - so, not a total waste then! I also had more patterned paper than I could ever use and have moved towards more Clean And Simple makes AND prefer to make my own backgrounds so, guess what? The BOXES of patterned paper have been languishing in boxes and cupboards ... couple of years back I went to a scrap retreat and took a load with me - left them with a fellow attendee who ran a youth group so, again, not a total waste although I do wonder how much I spent acquiring these "bargains" now given away! WOW! Talk about making a short story long .... the reason I started this epic was to say .... unearthed one of the said boxes of patterned paper the other day - thought I should at least TRY to use some ...... you saw some deployed in yesterday's post and here's another piece deployed too! Woo Hoo - only about another ream (or three) to go!

My card
And a closer view of my image panel

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:
  • White C6/A2, 250gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of card (white and DCWV linen textured olive) cut to 14.2cm x 10cm
  • One piece of patterned paper DCWV from the winter stack cut to 13.7cm x 9.5cm
  • Snippets of card in the olive and also white and red
  • Uptown Design Company Santa image stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Faber Castell polychromos pencils used to colour image, blended with sansodor
  • Length of red and gold ric rac braid (NBUS - something else I've had for years) attached to my base card layer using Stix2 narrow double sided tape
  • Dimensional foam tape used to attach my image panel to my card panel and again to my base card - probably making this a "hand delivery only" Christmas card!, another item I don't use too often, for this reason!
  • Stardust stickles to highlight the stars and "snowy" grounding
  • For the insert and envelope I added a sentiment by Paper Artsy (JOFY17) using Memento tuxedo black ink and faux ric rac braid (NBUS - in the drawer for so long I forget who it's by though my money is on either Recollections or Technique Tuesday .......... anyone???) stamped using Versafine satin red ink
  • Another piece of neglected stash .... Tsukineko gelly roll gel pen in gold used to draw a line through my stamped ric rac to co-ordinate it with the actual red/gold ric rac
I'm calling this a result as I've used a fair amount of sorely neglected stash AND NBUS along with making another Christmas card towards my 2017 quota! Yee Haa!

Does anyone recognise the border set on the left?
I'll be entering the above make for the following challenges:-
  1. City Crafter - July 25th challenge - SOMETHING BEGINNING WITH "S" (I went with Santa!)

  3. Unicorn challenge - challenge No. 23 - CHRISTMAS IN JULY
  4. A Snowflakes Promise - challenge No. 42 - ANYTHING (Christmas) GOES

A Tuesday post from me .....

Morning all

I've taken to posting on a Monday lately but, since today is Rudolph Day, I thought I would post today instead!

Lately, I've been using some cool and funky images, some snarky sentiments as well as making mostly ATC's - thought I should get out of this rut!!! To this end ...... I dug out a Christmas image I've not used in an absolute age and thought I would make two cards "the same but different" .... see how they turned out..

My C6/A2 card

The front, back and inside of my C6/A2 card and the front and back of my envelope

My 15cm square card

The front, back and inside of my 15cm square card along with the front and back of my envelope

And an enlarged view of the colouring panel - quite a
departure for me, style wise, cuter than usual but .. I LIKE IT!
Materials used:
  • One white C6/A2 card and one white 15cm square card, both 250gsm and both with matching sized envelopes
  • Blue patterned ribbon and narrow navy satin ribbon, cut to fit the appropriate card and attached using double sided tape
  • Two card panels cut to 14.2cm x 10cm (one white and one navy) + one white card panel cut to 13.7cm x 9.5cm
  • Two card panels cut to 14.5cm square (one white and one navy) + one patterned paper panel cut to 13.5cm square (DCWV winter stack)
  • Two white card panels cut to 6.5cm x 9cm with a navy matting layer cut to 7cm x 9.5cm - for my image panel
  • Sarah Kay image stamped on the image panel using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Faber Castell polychromos pencils used to colour the image
  • Stardust stickles to highlight
  • Paper Artsy (from JOFY17) sentiment stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink

And there you have it, two cards essentially the same, but each just a little bit different, and both a LOT different to makes of mine over the past weeks!. Hope I've surprised you - just a little! I'll be entering these for the following challenges:
  1. Scraps of Life - July Rudolph Day challenge - ANYTHING (Christmas) GOES (Square card)
  2. Christmas at Sweet Stampin' - July challenge - ANYTHING (Christmas) GOES (Square card)
  3. 4 Crafty Chicks - challenge No. 360 - BLUE CHRISTMAS (Square card)
  4. CRAFT challenge - challenge No. 425 - CHRISTMAS (Square card)
  5. Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Challenge EXTRA - July challenge - ANYTHING (Christmas) GOES (Square card)
  6. Frillie and Funky - July 19th challenge - CHRISTMAS IN JULY - must be vintage (C6 card)
  7. Starstampz - July challenge - CHRISTMAS IN JULY (C6 card)
  8. Merry Monday - 2nd annual link up - CHRISTMAS IN JULY (C6 card)
  9. Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas challenge - challenge No. 343 - ANYTHING (Christmas) GOES - C6 cad
Please note that I haven't entered either card for more than five challenges.

And I finally managed to break the chain of ATC's .... I bought a set of florals from Woodware and thought one would make a very nice sympathy card - especially since I don't HAVE to make one .. so, now I have one in readiness

Monday morning once more ...

Morning all,

Got yet another ATC to share with you this morning - hope it will brighten your Monday. Honestly? Yesterday was so grim that I just wanted to get out of the house for a bit .... we have a new The Range which opened not too long ago so I've not had the chance to visit too often - YET! Thought I would wanted around there for half an hour, it worked too, as I missed the heaviest showers! Bought myself some new stash and couldn't wait to rip the seal off them - don't you love it when that happens?

My ATC
Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Snippets of card in bright orange and white
  • Kaisercraft border (from the Aztec borders set) stamped using Memento potters clay ink
  • Woodware (from the succulents set) images and sentiment stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Sharpie pens in pink, light green, turquoise, yellow, orange and red used to colour - I felt such strong designs needed strong colours and I have NEVER used sharpie pens to colour before!
  • Plaid dimensional gloss applied to the cacti, to give them texture

My stash? It's not like I bought a lot but ..

And then, using some slightly older (but no less fab) stash on another ATC

My ATC
Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Snippets of card in navy, grey pearl and white
  • All images from Creative Expressions Inspiring Edges (CEC851) and stamped using Memento tuxedo black and dandelion inks as well as Versafine satin red inks

Saturday, 22 July 2017

Welcome to my Saturday post ....

Hi there readers

Now, I made this ATC a couple of weeks ago but never got round to blogging it, not entirely sure why - there's nothing actually WRONG with it, after all.

My ATC
Materials used:
  • ATC blank
  • Snippets of card in deep brown and white
  • Crafty Individuals CI197 image stamped using Memento rich cocoa ink
  • Distress Inks in tumbled glass and iced spruce used, water colour style, to add just a dash of colour to this vintage style image
  • Once dry I sealed the ATC using Aquawax applied with a baby wipe and, once dry, buffed with paper towel
I'll be entering this for the following challenges:-
  1. Creative Fingers - challenge No. 134 - ANYTHING GOES
  2. Simply Papercraft for all occasions - challenge No. 148 - ANYTHING GOES
  3. Little Miss Muffet - challenge No. 167 - ANYTHING GOES
  4. DL Art - challenge No. 208 - ANYTHING GOES

And, now, since it IS Saturday a challenge make .... now, I DO NOT use dies much so was aghast to find my usual go to challenge saying "No Stamps" this morning - however, I'm no quitter!

My card

The front, back and inside of my card along with the front and back of my envelope

Materials used:

  • White 15cm square, 25-gsm, card and matching sized envelope
  • Two pieces of white card cut to 14cm square
  • One piece of card cut to a 13cm square and with a circle die cut off centre (lower and to the right) to use as a mask ..... and washi tape to tape in place
  • Stamplorations dies "Happy" and "Birthday" die cut from snippet of black card which I then ran through my Xyron sticker maker for attaching to the card base
  • Distress Inks: fossilised amber, carved pumpkin and festive berries - applied using a Tim Holtz mini blending tool
  • Dutchdoobadoo hessian stencil through which I applied the Glitzcraft gold glitter embossing paste using a metal spatula. Interestingly enough .. I've not used this embossing paste before and was a little surprised that, as it dried, it seemed to have bleached some of the DI colour!!!
  • For the insert I used Delicata golden glitz applied through a Tim Holtz mini stencil (set #14) using a mini blending tool
  • For the insert and envelope greeting I used a Dovecraft and Funstamps sentiment, stamped using Memento tuxedo black ink
  • Crafters Companion Spray and Shine applied to the circular inked area, to protect from the elements in transit

I'll be entering the above for the following challenges:-
  1. Simply Less Is More - challenge No. 338 - ANYTHING BUT STAMPS
  2. Craft Rocket challenges - challenge No. 39 - ANYTHING GOES
  3. Emerald City - challenge No. 1 - ANYTHING GOES
